About the William Kent
Art Foundation

Overview

The William Kent Art Foundation preserves and advances the legacy of William Kent — a self-taught, fiercely independent artist whose monumental sculptures and slate monoprints redefined American art with originality, wit, and social conscience.

Guided by Kent’s belief that art itself is a form of resistance, the Foundation safeguards his extensive body of work while championing creative freedom and individuality. From exhibitions and education to preservation and artist support, our mission is to keep Kent’s fearless spirit alive — inspiring dialogue, compassion, and courage through art.

Vision / Our Legacy Statement

We uphold William Kent’s legacy by championing bold artistic expression that confronts political, social, and personal truths through satire, history, and transformation.

We preserve Kent’s monumental sculptures and prints for future generations, advocate for individuality and artistic independence, and honor his unwavering resistance to systems that silence creative voices

Through stewardship, accessibility, and outreach, we ensure Kent’s work continues to inspire courage, originality, and empathy — values that define both his art and his life.

Elder Art Initiative

Inspired by William Kent’s own journey, the Elder Art Initiative supports older living artists who face financial hardship, limited visibility, or creative isolation.

The program provides assistance, connection, and advocacy — recognizing that creativity has no expiration and that the wisdom of experience enriches the cultural landscape.

By nurturing artists in later life, we continue Kent’s mission to protect and uplift those whose dedication to art endures, even in the face of challenge.
